Women cricket: Australia win toss, put India into bat in 2nd T20 match at Queensland
In women’s cricket, Australia won the toss and chose to field in the second T20 match being played at Carrara Oval in Queensland. India were 5 without loss of wicket in 1 overs, when the reports last came in.
The match is crucial for both the teams after the first match was abandoned due to incessant rain. Both sides got one point each from the abandoned game.
Bolstered by Jemimah Rodrigues’ return to form, India will look to come out all guns blazing in the second match. Jemimah made a sensational comeback with an unbeaten 49 off 36 balls in the first T20I.
Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma have been in good form during this tour. Harmanpreet Kaur also joined the team after missing the ODI leg and the Day-Night Test due to a thumb injury.
Australia boast a number of quality all-rounders in the shorter formats and the hosts will depend on them to tame the Indians. Captain Meg Lanning has plenty of options and she will hope the young stars will deliver in the next two matches.
