Polling for sixth phase out of ten phases of Panchayat Elections in Bihar underway

In Bihar, polling for the sixth phase out of ten phases of  Panchayat Elections in the state is underway amidst tight security. Polling, which began at 7 a.m., will continue till 5 p.m. Polling is being held in 57 blocks spread over 37 districts including Patna, Gaya and

Nawada today. 93 thousand 586 candidates are in the fray. Polling is being held for 26 thousand two hundred posts including mukhia, sarpanch and panchayat members. Three thousand 540 candidates elected unopposed. No untoward incident has been reported so far from any part of the state.

For the first time, EVMs are being used in Panchayat polls in the state. Counting of votes will take place on the 13th and 14th of November.
