Mango is the main cash crop of Konkan and cultivating mangoes especially Alphonso mangoes is an exhaustive year long process for the mango farmers. The sale of mangoes and getting the right value of the fruit is the payoff for the hard work put in by the farmer. This year only 20% hapus was grown due to natural calamities which hit the konkan region and now the restrictions due to the rising corona pandemic are also creating difficulties for the farmers. With the Global Kokan Farmers Mango Market, we have tried to give a readymade market to the farmers and created an online platform to sell the mangoes direct to consumers.” stated Sanjay Yadavrao, Founder Global Kokan and Kokan Bhumi Pratisthan.
“The Farmers mango markets have been organized in Mumbai, Thane and other areas and in the next few days, more farmer mango markets will be organized in 20 different parts of Maharashtra including Nashik and Nagpur. The mangoes on sale in this market are #farmertohome from Konkan farms to guarantee consumer can enjoy naturally grown, unadulterated mangoes” he further added.
Mangoes are being sold and transported in compliance with all laws and regulations and Global Kokan has requested the farmers to co-operate with the police and the government.
